Bringing up cancer is never an easy task in advertising, especially when the advertisement is a reminder of one's age and the need for preventative screenings concerning a part of the body many find uncomfortable speaking about. Southwest Medical tasked us with creating an ad for social media reminding those who are 50 years or older to make an appointment for a colorectal cancer screening. In response, we created two series of videos: one for those over 50 years of age and one for those about to turn 50. Rather than use dire facts and statistics to drive the point home, we caught the viewers' attention with humor, nostalgia, and to-the-point messaging. These videos successfully increased the client's CTR and consumer engagement via social media.
