Bringing up cancer is never an easy task in advertising, especially when the advertisement is meant to serve as a reminder of, not only one's age but also the need for preventative screenings concerning a part of the body many find uncomfortable to speak about. Southwest Medical tasked us with creating an ad for social media reminding those who are 50 years or older to make an appointment for a colorectal cancer screening, in response we created two series of videos, one for those over 50 and one for those about to turn 50. Rather than use dire facts and statistics to drive the point home, we caught the viewers' attention with both humor and nostalgia and quick to-the-point messaging. These videos successfully increased consumer engagement and received positive reactions online.
